Integrating personal social links of users via Cornerstone - pulled from user profile (BuddyPress field integration?)

I’d like to offer the authors of my blog an element to embed their personal social channels and links into a page or post. No “share” buttons, but icons (Instagram, YouTube etc) that link to their own Instagram account, for example. Apparently I can build this every time with an icon and added URL. But I thought: If I activate Buddypress and offer custom fields (URL) for all users there, they should be able to fill these fields once at the user profile and then insert them as an element in Cornerstone, right? How do I access these fields in Cornerstone?
