I have installed the latest version of X (5.2.5). After activating I have a message at the top stating: We attempted to installed Cornerstone (required by X) automatically, but were unable to. You may need to install Cornerstone manually. I click on the link and it takes me to the dashboard of Apex. How/Where do I install Cornerstone? I do not see anything listed as cornerstone in the extensions or plugins.

Please try to manually install Cornerstone.
You can do so by logging in through FTP and go to wp-content/themes/x/framework/plugins and you should be able to see cornerstone.zip file that is in there.
Download the zip file and go back to wordpress admin and install it in the plugins section.
