Installation failed: "The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet."

Just purchased and tried to install, but installation failed: “The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.” I searched the support forum and installed the child theme, as directed… but, without the parent theme, the child theme obviously can’t work. Please advise!

Hi there,

Did you try to install the full package that you downloaded from ThemeForest? If so, you will need to unzip the file and install the actual theme zip file which is x.zip as the complete package you download from ThemeForest got a lot of files other than the theme files.

I unzipped the cornerstone package file and then uploaded (or, rather, tried and failed to upload) cornerstone.zip. There is no x.zip file.

Suggestions?

Hi Jenny,

Oh if you are trying to install Cornerstone, you have to install it in the plugins page, not in the themes page because Cornerstone is a plugin.

Oh! Wow, I really missed the point on that one. Thank you for setting me straight. So, tell me… Do I need to purchase X in order to use Cornerstone? Or can I use Cornerstone with other themes?

Hi Jenny,

You should be able to use Cornerstone with other themes. :slight_smile:

You just need to install and activate it and you should be able to build pages using the Cornerstone builder.
