Index of content items

I am looking to build what I used as a ‘Dealer Index’ on my previous website (12 years ago in Dreamweaver)
I cannot figure out how to set this up.
I have 100 Dealers. They can be sorted in many category levels: continent, country, state, etc
Can I use an archive type page to present them?
Can site visitors sort them by category?
Where would I enter the data for each submission (would this really be a post, or portfolio item, or something else for each one?)
Thank you

Hello Chris,

Thanks for writing in! Is this your first time using WordPress? As you know, WordPress allows you to use categories and sub categories. Each of this category has its own category archive page. In each archive page, it will display all the post items that belongs to that category. It is best that you check out this codex first to be familiar with WordPress:

If you are going to have a sort filter button for your dealer index, first, you will need to add a “Dealer” as a custom post type. This is how you organized your dealers. You can also add categories and sub categories for each dealers. And then in your page that displays all Dealers, you can use the Essential Grid to display each dealer items and then also the sort filter navigation. Perhaps, this documentation can help you:

If you have some difficulty in understanding WordPress, it is best that you contact a 3rd party developer to build your site for you. This is the easiest way because it would take a while to be familiar and get around to use the WordPress and be able to fully use the potential of our theme.

Thank you for your understanding.
