Incorrect page title underneath breadcrumbs for 404 error pages using extension

Hi,

I’ve created my customised 404 page fine using the 404 extension that comes with x-theme. However, when I test the 404 error to load the customised page the page title shows incorrectly within the content…

Correct page title example - https://thewaveshack.com/oh-no-something-went-wrong

^^ This shows the correct title “Oh No, Something Went Wrong” that shows under the breadcrumbs.

Incorrect page title example - https://thewaveshack.com/error-test

^^ This shows the incorrect title “Wetsuit Buying Guide” that shows under the breadcrumbs.

I can’t figure out why “Wetsuit Buying Guide” is populating when a 404 error is visited rather than the “Oh No, Something Went Wrong”. I’ve deleted my cache and tried browsing in incognito but the problem persists.

I need to make sure “Oh No, Something Went Wrong” always shows as the page title underneath the breadcrumbs when a 404 error is hit - any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello Rich,

I can confirm the issue on your site.

Using the same X version and stack, I can’t duplicate the issue on my install. It might happen if you have a customization though you don’t have a child theme. Did you somehow edited the main X theme directly? If not, another source might be your plugins. You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how it goes!
