Inability to edit the header

One more quick question related to the discrepancy between the documentation and what I’m seeing:

Should I be concerned that I only see “Page” and “Component” in Cornerstone and not the other options (Header, Footer, Single, and Archive)? How do I get the others to show up?

Documentation: https://s3.amazonaws.com/docs-content.theme.co/cornerstone/layout-builder/headers/images/headers-01.png

Mine: https://share.mytanuki.com/Xscreenshot3.png

Oh my. The documentation doesn’t seem to help me at all. I thought it would be easiest to download the content of a theme and then edit it, but when I look up how to do something, it’s not there (like the fact that you have to edit the page outside of Cornerstone to get the included slider to show up). I have three fonts in the “Font” tab of my theme options, and they’re Helvetica, Helvetica, and Lato (so all three are sans-serif). But on the demo info, there are serifs all around: everything in the menu, about half the bands on the main page, some (but not all) of the pages, and the footer, though on the 404 that goes to Themeco’s server, everything is sans-serif. I would like the fonts to be consistent, but that is not the case here. You can see the mix of serif and sans-serif fonts in earlier screen captures.

I’d still like to know how to edit the header (at least the part that isn’t the slider). For example, besides changing the font of the main menu, how do I add a logo next to the site name? The documentation doesn’t help me here.

Hi @samiam00,

The theme structure has been changed and we are updating the documentation. The documentation for this specific section has not been updated yet. To change the font, logo the options are available in the Theme Options. I would suggest you go through the documentation and let us know if you find any problems with it.

Thanks

I’ve seen Theme Options under Cornerstone (https://share.mytanuki.com/Xscreenshot7.png). That’s how I got to the three sans-serif fonts (https://share.mytanuki.com/Xscreenshot8.png). I don’t know where the serif font is coming from. Where do I make the serif font one of the three sans-serif fonts in the Integrity Business site data?

And has everything else besides Page and Component been removed from what I can add in Cornerstone (see screenshot 3)? Is there no way to edit the header or add a logo next to the site name in the header? The inability to edit that is pretty much a dealbreaker for me.

I don’t know if it’s normal to have all of this wasted real estate in Cornerstone (https://share.mytanuki.com/Xscreenshot9.png) or if mine is broken, but I can’t preview anything. I found where to add an image, but now the text has gone away (https://share.mytanuki.com/Xscreenshot10.png) when I view a page.

My main question right now is this: Where are the serif fonts coming from and why are the fonts that the theme calls out not showing everywhere throughout the theme like they do in the demo? I’m primarily just trying to get the theme to what the demo shows.

What could I have done wrong to make the demo content not load correctly? The top slider didn’t come in as it should have and needed to be activated outside of Cornerstone, and the fonts don’t look like they do in the demo. Did I miss a step? I went into Cornerstone, clicked the “+”, clicked “Themeco”, then scrolled down and clicked “Integrity Business”. I thought it would bring down the data and make the site look like the demo. It was a brand new Wordpress install. What did I do wrong? The frustration just grows and grows because editing the theme right now is secondary to getting it to how I expect to see it, and I’ve had no answers regarding the invasive fonts or the missing parts (everything other than “Page” and “Component”) on the left-hand side.

Hey @samiam00,

Just want to let you know that bumping the thread will push your ticket to the bottom part of the ticket lists. If you want to edit the header content using the X theme, it is under Cornerstone > Theme Options, and look for the headers tab.

In order for us to investigate with your issue properly with fonts, would you mind sharing your admin credentials so that we can check on it properly? To do that, please give us the following information in a Secure Note.

  • WordPress Login URL
  • Admin level username and password

You can find the Secure Note button at the bottom of your posts.

Thank you.

That header section is where I added the logo, which made my site name disappear. I’ve added the secure note.

Hello @samiam00,

I checked your site it seems that it is working fine at the moment, it might be an issue with the browser cache I would suggest you please clear your browser cache and recheck it. I have tested it on the Google Chrome browser Version 114.0.5735.199. If the issue still persists please let us know the browser and its version.

Thanks

Looking at your screenshot, I can see that it is NOT working correctly. The three fonts that the theme calls out are Helvetica (sans-serif), Helvetica (sans-serif), and Lato (sans-serif). On my site (see your screenshot), the menu is a SERIF font, the text underneath the “EXTENSIONS” header is a SERIF font, and there is more SERIF font throughout, notably the footer.

Where did the serif font come from, and why is it not called out in the font section of the Theme Options? It’s coming from somewhere else, and I don’t know where. I want it to look like the demo: https://demo.theme.co/integrity-business/

I’m just trying to get to step 0 (get the theme to where it looks like the demo so I can begin to modify it), but I can’t even get that far, and your screenshot proved that it’s not just me and it’s NOT a cache issue if the serif font is in your screenshot (whether you notice it or not).

I understand that commenting on my thread bumps it down to the bottom of the line, but 13 hours with no reply isn’t going to get me anywhere, either. I’d just like to point out the differences between your demo and what I got when I downloaded that demo data.

My site with your demo data: https://share.mytanuki.com/Xscreenshot11.png

Your demo site: https://share.mytanuki.com/Xscreenshot12.png

Please note the different fonts and keep in mind that the only three fonts called out in the Theme Options are sans-serif.

Note the differences between these two screen captures and note that the theme options call for only sans-serif fonts. I have now wasted two days trying to get to what the demo data is supposed to be, and if there is a font that appears that is not called out in the Theme Options, then how am I supposed to change the font? I seem to be locked into a serif font with no ability to change it. And the worst part is that no one can give me an answer as to where the rogue font is being summoned after two days. I’m frustrated and need to find a different solution that will allow me to modify the site as I would like.

Hello @samiam00,

You need to do the following:

1.) Go to Cornerstone > Theme Options > Typography and assign the fonts to the Body and Content and the Headings:

2.) Go to Appearance > Menus and make sure to organize your menu items:

Kindly let us know how it goes for you.

Wow. Let me just do a quick recap of what I just did so you can take this into consideration when… I’m not sure… making documentation or putting together a quick-start guide of “what you need to do to get the theme to look how the demo does”:

  1. Go into Cornerstone > Theme Options just like you said
  2. Scroll past the “Stack” and “Layout and Design” sections to get to “Typography” (also, just like you said)
  3. In the “Headings” section of “Typography”, see that “Headings” is already selected as the “Font Family”, but click the drop-down menu anyway and select “Headings” (which was already selected)
  4. After not changing anything (just selecting what was already selected), click “Save” at the top.
  5. Not changing that setting changes the text.

I’m glad I’m now to the point where I thought I’d be two days ago, but this makes absolutely no sense. I will continue to use this theme in developing the site because I need to get info to people as quickly as possible (hence my impatience), but these unwritten steps really do need to be written somewhere so others who are in my situation don’t have to waste your and their time with each install.

Hey @samiam00,

We’re sorry for the inconvenience but this should not be in the docs or steps because importing a demo a should be easy.

I’ve replicated the import issue on my test site so I will post this in our issue tracker to be queued for investigation and fixing by our development team.

Thank you for reporting.

Excellent. Glad to hear it’ll be investigated. Thanks.

You’re welcome.
