Improve mobile experience

Since more then 50% of the website accesses this days come from mobile i am trying to improve the experience. My mobile menu currently looks like this:

Is it any way to add a search bar at the top in line with the X icon that closes the menu and change the backround from white to any chosen color? That will save some space in the mobile header by replacing the search icon with a cart and make the mobile menu look more professional.

You are using the navigation collapsed or navigation layered. You cannot add search to it because that is just a navigation menu element. You can change the colors when you inspect that element. Please check out the image below:
