Importing Cornerstone content that has been edited in classic editor

HI there.

We’ve had an issue with a good number of our pages–one of our users went through and made edits using the classic editor vs. cornerstone editor. when opening the pages in cornerstone they appear black however the pages still contain the [cs_content] (and all appropriate structure/code) in the visual editor. The content is there, it has just been edited.

Is there any way that we can pull these pages back into cornerstone with all their content? It is a large number of pages and changes we are working with here–would be great if there were a way to remedy this issue.

Hello C,

Thanks for writing in!

If the post has been opened/edited outside Cornerstone then it not possible to edit back in Cornerstone. Serialized data in Cornerstone is now broken and will give the error message that content is edited outside Cornerstone.

Unfortunately, you will have to re-create the pages again in Cornerstone.

Thanks for understanding.

Can this get added as a feature request please. I know a lot of users run into this problem and it would be great to be able to pull the data back into the editor. I know WPBakery and other composers allow this.

This becomes especially important as many users use other plugins that aren’t accessible via the Cornerstone interface page–Yoast for example. Quite often these users will be making modifications in Yoast and rather than toggle to Cornerstone to grab some text they click on the editor…and then break the page.

I’ve had this happen with multiple clients of mine.

Hello @speckledjay,

Thanks for updating the thread.

I have taken this as a feature request and added into our internal tracker. I am not in a position to share ETA but I suggest you to keep an eye on the changelog page for latest announcement.

Thanks.
