I checked on my localhost test installation and it seems that the code works fine on my end. Please note that the code provided in the linked thread serves as a guide only and is to help you get started so implementing it and maintaining the code will be out of our support scope. In case you have no idea about PHP coding I would suggest you please contact a developer who can assist you with your concerns or you may subscribe to One where customization questions are answered.
