Images not showing post-SSL activation (using 'Really Simple SSL') plugin

Hi, so I have used this plugin on a different website to get SSL working and it worked flawlessly (with this same X Theme). Right now, SSL is up on the site, (propianomove.com) but the images are not showing (and if I click the image icon and open in a separate tab I get a Privacy Error from Chrome.

However, I tried removing and then re-selecting a couple images in Cornerstone (Header logo & the girl), and now it is showing up fine after saving.

Anyone know if I’m doing something wrong that’s causing this? And if there is an easier way to fix it than just re-selecting all of my images?

Thanks!

I just discovered that the invalid images are showing a link back to the staging site and not the new version of the image on the final site… so I guess the question is how do I update those links globally (sorry, this is probably actually just a WP question)?

And I even figured out how to update this in my database: https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/wordpress/migrating-wordpress-inmotion-hosting/correct-image-links

…but it still isn’t working right (unless I just re-select all the images in cornerstone)… which I’m beginning to do, so don’t be surprised if you don’t see the problem anymore when you visit my site. Still, maybe there’s a bigger problem here or this can help someone else. Thanks

Hi @jonacello,

You will need to change the URLs which is set in Settings > General to reflect the https change that you have. Then you will need to change all the links which you used in the Cornerstone or the content builder as all of them are linking to the staging website.

The problem is actually the migration process, I suggest that you do the migration as suggested below:

Another suggestion can be to replace all the occurrences of the staging URL on your website database with the new URL using the plugin below:

Important: please make a complete backup of your website before doing any of the suggestions above, and please consider that the above methods are not our official stand as they are 3rd party plugins and I suggested those plugins as my personal experience.

Finally, it is important to note that the problem that you are facing is not related to our theme and t is a general WordPress migration issue.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi @christopher.amirian,

Yes–definitely a WP migration issue.

Thank you for the plugin suggestions. I will try those plugins in the future–especially the all-in-one-wp-migration. This particular migration was complicated because it was replacing an existing site that had some quirks (on GoDaddy). In any case, I did end up just replacing all the images manually, which didn’t take too much time for this relatively small site.

Thanks!

Glad you were able to resolve it
