Images "lost"

hi there

without doing anything in the headers or in the media library I often get started in the new working day with images “lost” or image reference lost (see screenshots). In the media gallery I get all those question marks.

I have no clue why this would happen. Do you have any idea?

Hey Andreas,

Our theme could not cause that issue as it only calls the images and does not load them. It’s highly likely that it’s caused by a 3rd party plugin and/or a limitation in your server. Please try deactivating all your 3rd party plugins and if the issue persists, contact your web host to investigate.

Thanks.

Thanks for the help!

You are most welcome, Andreas.

Hi there

I am still struggle with the issue although I deactivated most of the plugins. Remaining plugins:

  • Echo Knowledge base
  • Echo Knowledge base advanced search
  • contact form 7

For example on my header “Lufthansa push” in bar 2 the image reference is again lost. I also don’t manage to add it again.

Funny thing is: If I add the picture as “medium size” it works. With full size I don’t get it into the header loaded, then I get this screen:

That’s just one example. My hosting company thinks they are not the problem.

Thanks for the help
Andreas

Hi Andreas,

There might be a few different reasons for that, the most common issue is the permission of the uploads folder where the images are stored. I would like to request you to check the folder permission and change it accordingly, please find the article here: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-fix-file-and-folder-permissions-error-in-wordpress/
It seems you are working on the safari browser in IOS, I would like to suggest you to use a different browser to check if that is also giving the same issue.

Please let us know how it goes for you.
Thanks

Hi there

Indeed, when working with Firefox the issue is not there anymore.

But that does not make it less problematic. It is not only in the backend but also in the frontend.

So users with Safari (as you know many people use it) see this, which is wrong:

While people using Firefox would see this, which is correct:

That’s only one out of many examples. I searched the web, tried everything with permission and the end story is: They mean that the theme causing the issue.

Thanks for the help
Andreas

Hi Andreas,

It seems that issue is with the Safari browser in IOS and beyond the scope of our theme support. I would also suggest you check by disabling all the browser extensions, also like to refer to these articles on a similar issue:

Hi there

Thanks for your help. Now I found the solution because you have given me nice inputs.

It looks like Safari blocks content if it feels that content is unsafe. In my case thats because of a missing SSL certificate I believe.

You can switch that of in the Safari preferences- security tab

Maybe it helps to know when you have someone with similar problems.

Hi Andreas,

Glad that we are able to help you.

Thanks
