Images become blurry when sizing down to medium or thumbnail

I am uploading full size images to wordpress media library (1200 pixels +).

When I create a post and insert an image, it inserts at a large size which looks clear. If I choose medium or thumbnail size, they turn blurry.

I have added a secure note with a video link to show the problem.

Hello @howardtbell,

Thanks for writing to us.

It seems that you are using the " WP-Optimize - Clean, Compress, Cache " plugin that compresses the images that make the image looks blurry. I would suggest you delete the compressed image or deactivate the plugin temporarily and then upload a new image then check it again.

Hope it helps
Thanks

Hi. Thanks for looking into it.

The plugin was not active.

I deleted the plugin, cleared the cache, resized the photos using a different program, re-uploaded, and tried again.

Same problem.

Hello Howard,

From what you have seen in your Media Settings, the Thumbnail image is 150x150 while the Medium size is 300x300.

If you also look at your Post Content block, the whole width is 1100 pixels. Since you have used two columns, the image width should be at least 550 pixels. With this width, you cannot simply use the thumbnail or medium because it is too small. It will be stretch out to cover the entire column. This is why it is blurry.

Secondly, you are using the Integrity stack. By default, the featured image of the Integrity stack is designed to be displayed as fullwidth. You can check out the demo here:
