I am having trouble getting good image resolution on default slider block that comes as an element in Cornerstone. I’m sure it is user error… but when I upload a 1200 x 600 photo as recommended the images on the slider come out blurry? Any help appreciated!

The slider does not modify the image. It could be that you’re using a smaller WordPress generated image. Ensure you’re using the full size image.
If you’re viewing your site on a large screen, it could be possible that the image is scaled up. Images inside the slider span 100% of its container and if the container’s width is larger than the image, the image will be scaled up and might look blurry.
