Image ALT tags on dynamically placed image

Hello, Themeco team!

Quick question:

I’m noticing that when I’m making layouts or creating looped-based content and placing images using Dynamic Content that the ALT tags assigned in WordPress Media Library are not pulling through.

If I take that same image and place using a static element, like the standard Cornerstone ‘Image’ element or hard-coded <img> tag - the ALT description comes in.

Just curious if this is standard behavior or if I’m simply missing something?

What I’m currently doing is creating a custom field on the backend to populate the ALT tag, but this is redundant and it would be great if the data could just pull through the already populated information in the Media Library.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide!

Hello Tyler,

Thanks for writing in! When using the Image element, the ALT tag of the image should be manually coded or use a dynamic content like Featured image for "{{dc:post:title}}". The image element cannot and will not used the ALT tags that you have added in the Media Library.

Best Regards.

Thanks, @ruenel!

Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t overlooking anything.

Has a feature like this been requested before or is it on the conversation table for future updates? It would be great to not have to juggle two content sets to apply ALT tags when using Dynamic Content.

Hi Tyler,

This option is only for the image element and it helps the user to override the ALT text as per his/her need. If you didn’t add any Alt Text in the image element, it will use the default one.
