Image alt tags and the media library

Is there a way to have cornerstone pick up image information from the media library? If not, can I add the alt tag info in the layout area and not worry about it in the media library? Thank you.

Yes. I just wanted to make sure I could skip one or the other. I would prefer the media library so if there are changes in the future I could carry that info forward. But I gather in this world it is through X. Thank you.
