ICON4 - add caption under featured image

Hi

When I insert an image into a “standard post”, I’m allowed to add caption directly in the editing area. But in an “image post” the caption editing area is missing. I also edited the image caption in the Media Library but it didn’t display either.

Please advise. Thanks!

Hello Ko-Ching,

Thanks for writing in!

Please be aware that the featured image will only display the image. It does not display the caption or any description below the featured image.

Hope this explains it briefly.

Hi RueNel,

That’s OK. But I just want to know if those small images in the “Recent Articles” section (see image from your demo) would only show up with “Featured Image” post? What about a “Standard” post, can I add a small image?

The thing is, although I don’t have this section on my website right now. But when there are enough posts in the future, instead of “Recent Articles”, I would like to have a “Featured Articles” section, which allows me to manually choose the articles I want to feature on the home page. Therefore, it would be ideal to have those small images in display. Is this possible with ICON 4?

Hello Ko-Ching,

Thanks for updating the thread.

Actually as of today WordPress does not has option to setup article as featured post. As a solution here’s something that you can tryout:

  1. If you want to display some specific article then let’s create a separate category under Posts > Categories.
  2. After that you can select the posts want you want to feature by selecting the Category in post editor.
  3. To display the content of category, you can use following shortcode or Classic recet post element in Cornerstone:
[recent_posts count="1" orientation="vertical" category="featured-post"]

For more detail on shortcode, please take a look at following resource:

I have recorded a screencast that you can take a look to learn more:

Thanks.
