Icon in menu- how do I do this?

Hi, I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out how to simply add a phone icon to the end of my menu that places a call when clicked. I have read many threads and watched a six min video and still can’t get this simple thing to work. I’m in header builder in X Pro but have been trying to add this to the menu itself, which I believe I should be able to do. Please help. Thanks.

Hi @jlswilton,

If you want to add this as part of the menu, you need to go to Appearance > Menu and add it there as custom link. Although, I don’t recommend it. It would be better if you can share a screenshot of what you are trying to achieve so we can give a more tailored solution. May we know why you want it as part of the menu?

Client wants a phone icon at the top of the page on mobile that is click to call. I have tried adding it as a custom link and none of the icon shortcodes work. I am open to other suggestions, although this is the suggestion given by Themeco in another thread on a similar topic. Would like to know why you don’t recommend it.

Hi @jlswilton,

Maybe it was suggested before V2 elements are available or if you are using X theme. Using Pro, we can easily add button element and set a graphic and add alink.

If you are trying to achieve using X theme, we need to use actual icon code. Shortcode will not work on Appearance > Menu > Navigation Label.

See this on how to get the icon actual html code: https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cqlX1GUSm4

Add that on Navigation Label textfield on Appearance > Menu.

Hope this helps.

Ok, thanks. I did end up using the button addition to the header and that is working so I’ll stick with that, but it’s still good to have the html icon code- I have seen a lot of people looking for that. thanks again.

You are most welcome!
