Icon in Counter Prefix

Is there a way to place an icon inside the counter prefix?
I can’t seem to get it to work. It just shows the html code on the front-end.

Well, I got the icon to show using the ::before pseudo element via css. It would be cool if adding an icon the left or right of the counter was a feature. Feature request!
