I want the homepage to look like the demo with blog side bar. How do i do this? i tried setting to sidebar right but get message not allowed to in this demo. Also, i looked in the knowledge base and saw something but not clear enough for me to follow.

HI there,

You will have to edit the page then scroll down to the Icon Page Settings and enable the Blank Template Sidebar option.

Hi there,

Would you mind providing your site’s URL? Are you on icon stack? That’s only doable with icon stack. You may also use a page template with a sidebar for your home page, it should be doable when you edit your page and go to page attribute section, or settings section if you’re in the builder.

Please go to X > Theme Options > Layout and Design > and choose Sidebar lef content right.

this works in a new page but then i lose the demo formating, i cannot get a sidebar with recent comments onto the icon 3 demo homepage even after the recommended changes. i receive message below

Because of Icon’s unique layout, this template is unavailable in this Stack. Please switch to another Stack if you need to make use of this feature. Thanks!

Hi There,

O Icon different from other stacks you cannot choose the side bar layout on Page Attributes > Page Templates.

You need to choose as instructed above.

On the pages you DO NOT want a side bar you can choose Blank No Container Header Footer.

i load icon 3 demo
i go to theme options/layout design choose content left, sidebar right - nothing happens to the layout as you can see from this screenshot https://prnt.sc/iosrbl

i change the blank template sidebar to yes as mentioned above in the first reply

if i preview the homepage from wordpress dashboard it shows a sidebar screenshot: http://prntscr.com/ioekyo. i.e. it seems to work and this is what i want.

However, in cornerstone it does not show a sidebar screenshot: http://prntscr.com/ioelbs

do you do share screen sessions or remote desktops?

Hi There,

Thank you for the credentials, it seems there is a misunderstanding here. Sidebars are not meant to be edited on Content Builders, so this was intended in Icon stack that you don’t see the Sidebar in the preview, you cannot edit it there anyway.

So if you want to edit the content of the Sidebar you go to Appearance > Widgets the sidebar that you’re seeing on the home page is the Main Sidebar so you put your widget/content in there.

You said you want your homepage to look like the demo (Icon 3), so I assume you want the Recent Posts with featured images and the What Are Stacks? Text.

If so, you need to add a Text widget on your Main Sidebar and type your What Are Stacks Text in there.

For the Recent Post, add a Custom HTML widget on your Main Sidebar and paste a Recent Posts shortcode. See what I did there.

Remove the other widget that you don’t need.
