I want my image to stay landscape sized on rotated phones

What I want is for my page to load the whole picture when the phone is being held in landscape orientation, but when it’s portrait orientation, I want the picture to stay the same size, allowing the sides to be cut off. I’ve seen something similar on other sites, and a previous version of X, how do I make this work?

You can achieve this using the image as section background instead of adding the image to content.
Please check this screenshot for the background setting.

If you want to achieve it via content image you need custom JS and css, which is out of our theme support scope.
