I just updated and my website is a mess now

The entire site structure is a mess, the site is unusable, help! here is the link so you can see https://weedmama.ca/ I cleared the cache it’s not that

Hi @weedmama,

Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind sharing login credentials in a secure note? That would help us look into this issue and get a solution for you.

Thank you, for the time being I’ve deactivated your child theme and WP Rocket. Once we get this sorted out we can reactivate them. I’ve discovered that some of the CSS included with X is missing.

This is the file that isn’t working properly: https://weedmama.ca/wp-content/themes/x/framework/dist/css/site/stacks/ethos.css

It is showing as 181KB in size, and is missing many styles for headers and footers. The actual file included with the theme is 196KB, so something is preventing the rest of the file from loading.

I’ve seen this in the past on sites using CloudFlare. Would you happen to be using it, or another CDN service? If that’s the case, can you check your settings and ensure there is no CSS minification or optimization taking place on the site? It could be an issue in that process that is truncating the CSS file and not letting it finish loading.

Yes I’m using cloudflare. My site is still messed up though it looks like it’s the menu structure. I can check cloudflare but none of this was an issue until I updated cornerstone and xtheme this morning. Meanwhile my site isn’t useable still, so what now?

Edit I just checked cloudflare and can’t see any minification etc. I don’t think that’s what this is as I said it was working just fine until the update

@weedmama I think I’m having the same problem. Does it seem to be the menu bar and footer? This is killing me…I just sent an email blast directing people to our site a little over an hour before is update.

Yes exactly, my site is a mess, unusable as the menu is broken and I’m freaking out

Can i just revert back to before the update? I really need my site up and running, how do we fix this?

I’m trying a few things first. They aren’t very keen on doing on that. I will let you know if I find anything. I just looked on mobile and it simply appears on mine that the menu button and links are messed up…but my content is intact. www.dermalogix.com You?

@weedmama,

Let me clarify on the above. The theme includes a stylesheet with 196KB of CSS. All of that CSS is important. your server is only outputting the first 181KB of those styles. So the issue isn’t with the new version itself, but rather that something on your server is preventing the entire file from loading. This is why I suggested checking CloudFlare. Do you have an admin panel (cPanel perhaps) we could log into to take a closer look at why that file isn’t serving properly? Thanks!

@scottyo38, Can you open a new thread? We can take a look at your site as well. It might just be a caching issue. I just checked and the menus are functioning properly here.

The new update also messed up my menu on my website. I have cleared cache on cloudflare and website and deactivated plugins with no change. Also, when using theme options, my original theme is there but when using the site, it is all ruined. It is the menu/header/footers that have been messed up which sounds like the same problem you guys are having. Commenting to see resolution.

your site seems fine, I checked.

ok I will attach it to the secure note

@weedmama,

Thank you! I’ve logged into CloudFlare and purged the cache and now things are working normally again. It was probably a case of CloudFlare holding onto some older files.

phew! thank you. I activated wp rockets again but how to I reactivate child theme? You mentioned before that you disabled it but I can’t seem to find it.

Edit: Nevermind I found it!, thanks

You’re most welcome. Glad to hear you got WP Rocket and the child theme reactivated again. Thanks for confirming with us!

I’m having the same issue!

I had the same issue, but i restore the files (Theme and cornerstone) with a back up while it is solved.

Hi @nwsmith12 and @flgv,

Please clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors, as Alex explained above, your caching plugins/features might still holding to older cached files.

If the issue persists after purging the cache, please create your own thread and provide us login credentials in a secure note. (Not here because the original poster will see it).

Thanks,

There is definitely something wrong with this update. When I upgraded X theme the top navigation broke. I have restored a backup but will not upgrade until this bug is fixed. It is NOT a cache issue. Cleared cache, used incognito mode … problem still existed.

Tried on another site I use xtheme with. Again, same issue. PLEASE fix this.
