I can't find where to put the alt tag for each item in Essential Grid!

Hi, I’ve created a grid for different car models in Essential Grid and I need to put an alt tag for each one for SEO but I can’t find where I can do this! I might be staring straight at it, but if you wouldn’t mind letting me know where to find it, that’d be great!

Thanks!

Hi there,

You will have to add the alt text to the Alt Text field of the featured image:

Hope this helps.

Hi, I’ve added in the alt tags as you suggested but I can’t tell if they’ll be seen by search engines as when I view the page source or inspect it in Chrome there isn’t any alt info that I can see.

Would you mind taking a look for me please. I’ll put the URL in a secure link as it’s on a temp link! The essential grid is under the heading ‘List of Alfa Romeo towbars and car models’ and it’s just showing 6 cars.

Thanks!

Hi @core365,

It should work and also mentioned here https://www.themepunch.com/revslider-doc/layer-attributes/

Please provide your admin login credentials in a secure note and I’ll check. For the meantim, please make sure your plugin is updated in case you’re still using a version where alt tags aren’t available.

Thanks!

Hi, as far as I can see Essential Grid is up to date as it isn’t saying there are any updates available. It’s v 2.3.1.

I’ll put the admin details in a secure note.

Thanks!

Hi @core365,

Sorry for the confusion, I provided a URL for revolution slider as they have the same author. But I checked the grid and the alt tags are working and they are pulled from media library data.

Thanks!

Ah ok, thanks! Yep, the alt tags are showing up now, I don’t know why they weren’t before!

Also, on that same page and the same car images section - the Essential Grid - for some reason the line down the left hand side of each image looks thinner compared to the others, even though they are all set at the same thickness! And the ‘Alfa Romeo Giulietta’ image isn’t showing the left line at all! I’ve included a screen grab for your reference.

Thanks!

Hi @core365,

Please try increasing the overall padding/spacing of your grid instead of item spacing.

Thanks!

Hi, I tried that and I even removed the Item Spacing, but I had the same problem with the lines.

Thanks

Hi @core365,

May I know the new URL? It’s now displaying a 404 page. I’m just curious if it’s caused by the new page layout if you changed it from before.

Thanks!

Ah, sorry, I was asked to change the page title of it this morning and forgot to give you the revised URL! I’ll put it in a secure note.

Hi @core365,

Yes, I can still it happening and it’s weird. Please add this CSS to fix it,

.esg-overflowtrick {
overflow: visible !important;
}

Thanks!

That’s great, thank you!

Weird things always tend to happen on my sites for some reason!

I appreciate all your help, thanks!

You’re most welcome!
