I can see my GA Stats - but where is my GA Tag?

Hi

Today I like to contact you because I get confused abou a setting in X.

I though I used a function in X to include my Google Analytics Tag. And Google Ananlytics is running on my site. I can see all stats in GA and the Tag Assistant showed that the GA tag is fired. So my site seems to be connected to GA correctly.

But I can’t find the GA tag anywhere in the source code! Also the gachecker.com shows me that no GA tag can be found. Also I can´t foind any setting in X dashboard with the Google Tag.

How can this be and how does this fit together?

Do you have any explanation for this? How can the GA tag be triggered if it is nowhere to be found in the source code? I’ve also searched all the other plugins to see if I’ve somehow included it differently - but couldn’t find anything. Also the “Google Analytics by Themeco” plugin under Validation > Extensions is not active. I really can’t understand this right now.

Michael

Hey Michael,

Thanks for reaching out!

I check one of your websites and I found the Google Analytics code, it can be added as a hardcode or use some plugin to add it. I also check the source code and the Google Analytics code is just there, please double check everything.

Hope that helps.

Hi,

this is the wrong site

Can you please check One Million Places?

Hey Michael,

I did check that website and it has no Google Analytics, there could be some website using your GA code. Please double check it properly.

Thank you.

How can this be? I can see in Analytics all the correct stats, the correct pages. And please see my screenshot above. When you check my site with the Tag Assistant plugin in Chrome you can see that the GA Tag is fired on my site.

The main question is - how can it be fired when I can´t see it in the source code?

Hello Michael,

I have inspected your One Million site and I found out that it is not using Google Analytics. Based on the page source, you are using Matomo on that site. We are not familiar with this analytics. Somehow, you have it in your website which means that either your or someone has added this in your site as a replacement of the GA.

Best Regards.
