Hyperlinks stopped working

I’m running an old Visual Composer (WPBakery 6.10) site using X (just upgraded to v 10.2.6). Since the X upgrade (and various other plugins), the hyperlinks within text elements have stopped working.

For example, https://unmask.us/songwriters-a-b/black-crowes/#WiserTime should go to the song Wiser Time on the Black Crowes page but since the upgrade, it goes to the correct part of the page initially but then takes the user to the top of the page. These links all worked correctly before the upgrade.

Any suggestions please? I’ll put login to the staging site in a secure note.

Thanks for reaching out!

After reviewing the page, we have found that there is no section with the ID ‘WiserTime’. The current section ID for WiserTime is ‘x-content-band-13’, which is why the anchor link is not functioning properly. We kindly request you to update the section ID with the correct anchor tag you desire.

The ID is in the custom headline within the page itself ( Wiser Time). That’s how every link has been set historically and everything worked fine until the latest update.

Hey @neilhartley,

I found out that you are using an old syntax in anchoring the section, you’ve used name instead of id. The name is an older HTML syntax and I suspect that is the reason why the anchor functionality is not working properly on your end. To fix the issue, I tried to change <a name="WiserTime"></a> Wiser Time to <a id="WiserTime"></a> Wiser Time, and the anchoring works perfectly. Please update all the items to make it work properly.
