HTTP Error When Uploading Media Files

Hello,
I’m working on my portfolio and I keep getting http error every time I want to add a file. I’m not a web designer and don’t feel comfortable adding code that could cause more server errors. I was looking for a simple theme where I didn’t have to mess with anything.

I can tell you that the issue isn’t temporary, and my host, Hostgator says my default version of PHP is 5.4. My browser is Safari. I deactivated all my plugins except for Cornerstone. I do not own Pro.

Settings:
safe mode = Off (cannot adjust)
memory_limit = 256M (MAXIMUM)
max_execution_time = 30 (MAXIMUM in seconds)
max_input_time = 60 (MAXIMUM in seconds)
post_max_size = 64M (MAXIMUM)
upload_max_filesize = 64M (MAXIMUM)
enable_dl = Off (cannot adjust)

I’ve never had a problem until yesterday. What should I do?
