HTTP Error uploading photos

I’m getting lots http errors when trying to upload photos both in Cornerstone and the Media panel. I am able to upload some, but not all photos, anything under 200kb usually works but that is extremely low. I have test all plugins so that is not an issue.

Can you point me in the right direction to get this working properly again?

Hi There,

Please take a look at this article: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/59763/how-to-fix-http-error-when-uploading-images.

If it doesn’t help, would you mind providing us with login credentials(by clicking on the Secure Note button at the bottom) so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:

  • Link to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password
  • FTP credentials

Thanks.

Hi Thai,

Yes I actually referenced this article prior to submitting this ticket. I increased my memory to 512M about 6 months ago when this same issue was occurring. Not sure why it came back. I will provide my login credentials in a secure post. Thank you for the help in advance.

Hi There,

I’ve just moved the WP Memory Limit to above the wp-settings.php file.

Could you please try again?

If it still doesn’t work, please provide us with your website URL and WP admin account as well.

Thanks.

Hi Thai,

Things do not seem to be working out. I’ve updated the secure note so please let me know if you are able to get in and access things on the back end.

Not sure what is going on. I am trying to upload a photo at 778kb which shouldn’t be an issue and I should in fact be able to load on even larger files.

Thank you for the help. Please let me know what the next steps are.

Hey @samadamjohnson,

As you have mentioned “anything under 200kb usually works” so you may need to increase maximum file upload size(looks like your server provides 200kb max file upload file size for WordPress). Please follow this article for how to increase max upload file size : http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-increase-the-maximum-file-upload-size-in-wordpress/

Hope this helps

Regards

Hi Rahul,

I’ll give that article a read. I haven’t had any issues though until recently and looking back at the Media panel, I was able to upload images in the range back in June 2017.

Do you know why suddenly this would be different? Is there anything with X that would be causing this?

Hi,

I would try checking with your hosting provider on this particular issue as it sounds like something related to your setup is causing this. Typically, this is due server configuration problems (i.e. underpowered, traceroute issues, packet loss, permissions errors, et cetera). Additionally, your host will be able to diagnose things much better due to the fact that they have a more complete view of your account and can work behind the scenes with you. If the problem you are experiencing persists after working with your host, don’t hesitate to let us know and we will be happy to assist you. Any relevant information that you can share with us from your host is also greatly appreciated as it will help us to better ascertain the source of the problem.

Thanks

Hi Paul.r,

So after to speaking with my hosting provider (GoDaddy), they stated this was a common issue seen throughout WordPress users. It has to do with the backend of WP and in no way connected to the hosting performance and theme interactions.

The trick was to simple run the famous Regenerate Thumbnails Plugin. So far so good, as I have regenerated almost half of my image/media database.

Hopefully this will be helpful to others in the future too. I appreciate yours and the teams continued support with this exceptional theme as well! Thank you!

Hey There,

Glad to hear that you’ve found a solution and thanks for sharing it for the future!
