HTTP 502 — Unable to Connect to the Origin Server

After updating the Pro Theme I started getting 502 Errors when I click on the Widgets link within the Dashboard. That is the only place that is throwing the Error. I received an email alerting me to this error and it stated the following:

Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

In this case, WordPress caught an error with your theme, Pro.

So I searched the forum and I saw that in one 502 Error in the Forum you said to update the PHP code. I updated from 5.03 to 8.

It is still throwing the 502 Error only when I click on the link to edit Widgets.

Hi Donna,

Thank you for writing in, please do the following first.

  • Ensure that you are fully up to date. WordPress, Theme, and Cornerstone (Version Compatibility)

  • Clear all the site caches (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors. While you’re at it, please deactivate this caching feature while we tackle this issue.

  • Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

If the issue persists, please provide us login credentials on a “Secure Note” so we can take a closer look.

Cheers!
