Html5 video doesn't work on Safari but works on Chrome?

Hi there,

I have a front cover, full size autoplay Html5 video and it works fine in Chrome but not in Safari.

Hi @bagitoenvato,

Thanks for writing in.

Please share us your URL so we could check your setup in our side.

Might want to check this link below,

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Hello Nico,

Thanks for your response.

The video format is mp4. Is in mode autoplay, is that something to do with it?

The website is www.firstview.us

Thank you!

Hi there,

I think it’s due to size or encoding, not all mp4 are the same. Please try a different video and smaller in size, it took time for my end to play since it downloads the video before it plays. Which also means, your hosting provider doesn’t support streaming, please check this https://developer.apple.com/library/content/documentation/AppleApplications/Reference/SafariWebContent/CreatingVideoforSafarioniPhone/CreatingVideoforSafarioniPhone.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40006514-SW6, https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1408257?tstart=0

What encoding you’re using in your mp4 video? Or is it an iPhone/iPad Safari?

Thanks.

Hello,

The mp4 video is the original, it was 154MG and I used Clipchamp software to reduce the size to 33MG. I’m not sure if I can make smaller without losing quality.
If my hosting provider doesn’t support streaming, why is working in other browsers?

Is there any code I should write or add in order to make it work?

Thanks in advance!

Hello There,

I have visited your site again in Safari and the video is now playing. Please check out my screenshot: http://prntscr.com/gs8e3o

I guess the resize version of 33MB now works in Safari. Please clear your browser cache or use private browsing mode and test your site again.

Please let us know how it goes.
