How to troubleshoot 'no closing HTML tag' issue in content editor

I can’t see the preview of the page, and I’m going into each component of every section of this page, and I can’t seem to find any reason why the preload wouldn’t work (says no closing HTML tag). Any ideas?

Hi @jrhager84,

You can use this tool that shows the inclosed HTML tags. Please check the page in question with the Chrome browser and then Select the View > Developer > View Source menu of your Chrome browser to show the source code underlying the page.

Then please select all the code and paste t into the tool that I gave the link to. There you will be able to see the inclosed tags and it will give you an idea where the problem resides.

You also need to keep in mind the possibility of the cache or optimization plugin which might cause such an issue. I see that you use the LightSpeed cache plugin and that might be the cause of the problem.

Try to clear the cache and disable the optimization and deactivate the plugin and test for the result.

Thank you.

I’ve disabled caching for logged in users. I’ve even disabled it to no avail.

I’ll try that tool

It seems to be the top and bottom separators. How would that not close, and how would I go about fixing that? Thanks!

Fixed the one span, but the others are the separators. I’ve looked everywhere, and I can’t see where they’d be unclosed. How would I fix that?

So, I went through and recreated the section with the angle separator, and after ALL of that getting it fixed, the minute I refreshed it went back to the same issue. I’m getting very annoyed, as I can’t finish this page. Any ideas?

Hello @jrhager84,

Are you still having an issue getting the page load in the builder? I have just logged in to your site and the page is displaying in the preview area already:

Imgur

What displays blank in the Revolution Slider. You might want to use the Classic Revolution Slider element instead of adding is in a shortcode.

Please let us know in case you are still having an issue on your end.

It only loads if I remove the top and bottom separators, clear the cache, and reload the page. The minute I add the angled separators the issue happens again.

Hey @jrhager84,

I see you have the angle separators but I still see the builder preview (see secure note). I know you cleared the cache but did that include the browser cache? If so, the problem could be specific to your browser. Please try using another browser and also test in incognito mode. If you have browser addons, please temporarily deactivate all of them.

Thanks.

I ended up figuring out the problem myself. There was an HTML conflict having the Slider Revolution shortcode in a modern raw content tab. I had to switch to classic Revolution Slider to get it to work. I usually like seeing the slider in real-time, but it won’t work with separators. Oh well.

Hi @jrhager84,

Thanks for the info, that is actually one of the reasons why we opt not to have a preview of Classic Revolution Slider and other premium plugins in the builder to avoid that type of conflict.

Glad you sorted things out,
Cheers!

It’s just interesting, cause why is it called ‘classic’ then? In my opinion, the denotation of ‘classic’ implies that it’s a ‘legacy’ component which usually are deprecated. Are there any plans of removing classic elements anytime soon?

Hi @jrhager84,

You’re right, that element is a classic and a legacy. There is no need to update that element hence, it only render the slider.

No, there is no plan on depreciating those classic elements, because there are still users that use those and there are sites that were built-in on those classic elements, it would be a disaster for those sites if we suddenly remove the classic elements.

Hope that shed some lights,
Cheers!
