How to show or hide sidebar ( widgets ) from specific shop category pages

HI im back haha so after 2 years i finally managed to figure out how to set up sidebar with widgets and got them going in my woo shop - and very happy to see them there - because all the work with attributes becomes worthwhile and as i have many many products for my clients for nails . .i need to have this to do what it needs to do -

My only problem - is now i am realising that on all the shop pages that show only categories. . .like my shop home . . and other first level pages that display only further categories . . with in them . … the side bar is there as well… and when u try to use it - of course it does not filter anything.

so from a first time customer point of view. . .it just looks like the filters dont work .

SO im here hoping someone can help me understand what i can do or what can be done - because i see other competition shops online - and their filters only appear on shop pages with products in them. SO there must hopefully be a clever solution - :} thanks - andrew - www.nailcrazy.com

im so happy to see them there - haha but now they are everywhere - big thanks and hi to all:}

Hey Andrew,

Welcome back. I checked your site and you have lots of categories. Would you mind posting the pages having the issue you described?

While waiting for your reply, please try creating a new Sidebar and assigning the sidebar to the Taxonomies having the issue. You can do that using our Unlimited Sidebars feature

Thanks.

HI yes - lots of categories and lots of products for girls to use hahah:}
From what i see the sidebar i set up to be visible on the shop ( which i love ) - is set to help filter items manually - by colour or finish or product type or seasonal collection etc… - and this is very helpful… when u are in any category that show actual products for sale - and it works - very nice.

in specific shop categories where i have set up to show only other categories ( and not also products ) - ( like level 1 categories ) or any category page set to show only categories ( not products as well ) - as it is now - the filters show up and if you try to use them - they wont show results - they are working . . .but because the category is set to show only categories … .then no results show up. ( So its working ) -

Some of these categores are
Shop Home.
CND Colours
Nail Art
Pro Nail Brands
and a few more.

It would be cool here to either have a different side bar. . .
or no side bar at all. or just not be visible.

Thanks ::}
i guess my query is not about setting up side bars but more about how i can get the side bar to show on categories that have products only ( or categories and products )

that would be very cool. …
thanks
a

Hey Andrew,

In this case, and as to not complicate things with custom coding which you’d need a developer to do if you’re not in to WordPress development, you’d need some kind of functionality that would control visibility of WordPress Widgets. An example of that is this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/widget-logic/.

Please refer to the plugin’s manual for usage instructions and contact the developer for support.

Thanks.
