In the Icon demo 3, the sidebar looks beautiful with the way that the recent posts are featured. I’d like to recreate this for a blog I’m working on:

Also, how can I adjust the width of the sidebar? Would I just use custom CSS for that? Basically, I want to know how it was done in the demo.

You don’t have to use the custom CSS, just drag & drop the text widget to your blog sidebar.
After that add this shortcode to that text widget: [recent_posts count="3" orientation="vertical"]
