How to display portfolio items in a slider

Hi,

I would like to showcase some of the customer stories (each is a portfolio item) on the home page in some elegant visual display such as a carousel or a slider. I do not want to use third party plugin (I am currently using Revolution Slider and am quite unhappy with its performance overhead, etc.). What are my options? Any guidance or hints would be great.

Alternatively, you can make use of the Recent Posts element to display the portfolio items inside the classic slider element. You just have to use recent post shortcode that displays one portfolio item in each of the slides. Utilize the offset option in the recent post shortcode so that the item display is unique.

I was not aware that I could use the Recent Posts element to display portfolio items but I see that I can do that by setting type: to “portfolio”
