How to create/test pro version on subdomain

Hi there,
Our site is build on X theme’s normal license. It’s fine except for the speed of the website, due to some plugins like essential grid and slider revolution. Because of this and the coming of the Pro version (with a lot of cool new stuff) we want to build the site from the ground up in the Pro version and end the normal version.

Is it possible to:

  1. install the pro-version on a sub domain (www.test.telecats.nl) of the live site (www.telecats.nl)
  2. build the new site on a this sub domain
  3. delete the existing content of the live site and upgrade X to pro version
  4. transfer sub domain to the live site

If so, what steps do I follow?
If not, what other suggestion do you have?

Kind regards and thanks in advance for the help.

Victor

Hello There,

Thanks for writing in! You may set up your sub domain and install Wordpress on it like you normally do. Do the same steps you did when you install X in your live domain. Just keep in mind that Pro theme is another separate theme. You will have to install and activate Pro theme like any other theme.

Regarding your Pro license, please check out this knowledge base article for more information:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply.

regarding the subdomain: do I need to buy a separate license for this?
Because it’s only to build the site on, and when finished, it will be deleted.

Hello There,

For validating the staging site or subdomain, please be aware that one license code can be used to validate two sites and that is for one live site and ons staging site. If have several test sites, you can simply revoke and re validate each of the site so that you will not buy any additional license.

To revoke the license, please do the following:
1] Please go to X > Overview and revoke the validation (https://s3.amazonaws.com/community-themeco/app/uploads/2016/04/17110514/Capture53.jpg).
2] Please login to your account and revoke the license.
3] After you have revoke the license, you need to re assign the license again to your site using this url: https://www.example.com/. You have to make sure that url you just assign is the same as the one you have in your settings, Settings > General > Site Address
4] Go back to X > Overview again, and insert your license code.

Hope this helps.
