How to copy blocks from one page to another

Our new website is in development, which was started by a third party. I have inherited this project and am trying to come up to speed on how he set things up, and using Cornerstone/X theme in general (I come from a hand coding background).

Right now we have an about page that has a series of colored blocks, which I want to move to the home page. I can’t save the about page as the home page because there is content on the home page I want to preserve (audio clips). Also there is one image spanning behind the three blocks and its not letting me select that element (so even if I save each block, it might not preserve the background image).

About page with colored blocks:

Home page with audio clips:

Any help is much appreciated as this hand-coder wrestles with this WYSIWYG editor.

Hello @PBAadmin,

Thanks for asking.

It seems that you are referring to elements. You can save the elements as a preset and then use the same in home page. Here is a screencast that you can take a look.

We also have Global Blocks feature. Here is a screencast that you can take a look.

To learn more about Global Blocks, please take a look at following article:

In case you are looking for a guided video tutorial, please watch following tutorial.

Thanks.

hey there, those screencasts are not showing up. Can you try posting a link to them?

Hi there,

Please see the links in the Secure Note.

Okay now I see them! This shows me how to set up blocks, but not how to copy the cody=e/blocks from an existing page. I don’t know if I can recreate the blocks that are currently in the page. How do I copy an element in Cornerstone and then save it to another page or save the block so I can re-use it?

Hi @PBAadmin,

It’s not possible per element, but you can do that per section. Like in this video https://www.dropbox.com/s/0il4pbtd6pguyd6/bandicam%202018-08-21%2002-37-32-839.mp4?dl=0

You’ll have to uncheck/unselect the section you don’t wish to be saved in the template. Then save it as a template and insert it as a template in your global block builder.

Thanks!
