How to change the Sidebars background color?

Dear Support Team,

I have tried to change the white background to a different color but I failed.
The color was changed partly in some areas (see picture) but the white background still remains.

I tried out several CSS code examples like

.widget a {
color: #000 ;
background-color: #014c00;

}
.x-sidebar{
background-color: #000;
color: #000;
}

but I wont get rid of the white areas in the sidebar.
Further more the same effect takes place in the Masonry display of blog post

Thanks in advance

Hi There,

Please also add this custom CSS:

.widget ul li, .widget ol li {
    background: #004e00
}

If you would like to learn CSS, I am sharing few resources that you take a look to get started with CSS and an interesting tool that you can use to speed up the development process.

I recommend you to watch following video that will help you to get started with CSS.

Sometimes it can get a bit difficult to find out the right selector to be able to write the required CSS codes. A handy tool that can help you in this is Google Chrome dev tools. I am sharing the resource that you can refer to get started with dev tools.
