How to assign a meta key to a category

My client is wanting to set a custom order for the dropdown to display in - currently using wp bakery front end editor, the Tour widget and a post grid within ea tab and the data settings set to filter by menu order.

They really want to change the dropdown default category ORDER from alpha to an order of their choice. I looked all over within posts to add a meta key or page id within categories to add one there, really not sure how else to get this post grid dropdown in the order of our choosing - thank you for your help!

Regretfully, there is no option to change the order of the category drop-down in Wpbakery Post grid element. We can forward it to Wpbakery Visual Composer as a feature request.
