How do I upload an animated GIF?

Title is self-explanatory. I’m using Pro and trying to upload an animated GIF. I’ve read through the Themeco knowledge base and supposedly .gif files are acceptable, but mine will not work.

Any specific steps I need to take so that it works? Is there a certain element I should be using? My URL is in a secure note.

Thanks.

Hi,

Please refer to the link below.

Hope that helps.

I’ve already tried that tutorial and several others, however the issue is still there. If you read that article, you’d see it requires to use the “Add Media” button in the default post editor. I’m using Pro, so that’s obviously not an option.

I would really appreciate a theme-specific answer, not a tutorial pulled off Google. Thanks.

Hi There,

On your admin dashboard navigate to Media > Library then upload your image by pressing the Add New button.

Then you can now use that image on your page.

You can also upload the image from the content builder, using the Image element

Hope it helps,
Cheers!

You guys… I know how to add an image. I’m not asking how to do that. I’m saying I have a problem with an ANIMATED GIF not working.

Could I PLEASE get some actual, tailored advice to my specific question instead of some generic thoughtless response?

Hi There,

I am so sorry for those replies, it’s just your post is misleading. Are you referring to this image, right? This .gif does not loop, the animation has already finished before you scroll-down on the image portion making it look like a static image.

That image has a huge dimension too (5400 x 3000) it’s not optimised for the web, I don’t know how that image was created but you need to re-render it. Maybe try some other Animated GIF Maker or Animated GIF converter.

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

I can resize to an appropriate dimension so it’s optimized. Can you show me how to loop the GIF so that it keeps playing?

Hi there,

This is unfortunately beyond the scope of our support as it is not a theme issue but the actual image as looping is encoded into the GIF itself. However, try to open the GIF in an image editor and change the mode to loop, or use a different GIF.

Hope this helps.
