I would like to develop and try out x pro on my localhost using XAMPP. Cant figure out how to verify or how to go ahead geting a license for that?

Local environments can only be validated if you are using a vhost with your local setup. There are many guides out there which explain how to setup a vhost for your particular dev setup so I would recommend doing a quick google search and see if you can figure it out.
