How can I setup this page

I want to design my page with a full width header as in the pic but also have a side bar below that header, see the pic…

However the page I have designed does not look like that as the sections stretch to full width and I’m not sure how to implement a side bar when I am using the full width, no container page template, any guidance would be appreciated.

Hello There,

Thanks for writing in!

Please edit your page and make sure that you have two sections. The first section will be the fullwidth image. The second section will be divided in two columns. The left and the right columns which will contain the content and the sidebar element. For the left column, it will contain the headings, text and image. The right column on the other, you will need to insert a widget area and select which sidebar to display. You will also make sure that the second section will have a transparent background color. You only apply a background color to each column settings. Hope this make sense.

If nothing is working out for you, please provide us access to the site so that we can create an example page for you.

Thanks.

thanks will give it a try

No Problem.
Please let us know how it goes.

That works to some degree but I do not think it is the same as this page https://xthemetips.com/breadcrumbs-for-x-pro-header-builder/949/

With what you have suggested you are really limited to 2 sections and every time you add a new row it pushes the second smaller column down, not to mention the columns then start wrapping on top of each other with smaller screens. The page I used above as an example was made with xtheme so it must be possible.

Maybe it would be better to use a global block for the header, not sure if that would work?

Anyway I setup a test page, details below in secure note;

Hey @waynepatt58,

This site (https://xthemetips.com/breadcrumbs-for-x-pro-header-builder/949/) is a single post so replicating that, you really would be limited to three areas (1st section with the fullwidth image and 2nd section containing the content and sidebar). You will need to put all your page’s content in the 2nd section - 1st column and that would be it. You must not add anymore rows.

Maybe your problem is adding rows to the 1st column? In that case, it’s not possible. You will need to use the Global Block feature to build your content. Or, you will need to use the Post and not the Page post type like your sample site and then do the same modification they had. They have modified the single post template to display the featured image above the content and sidebar. You will need to contact the site owner if they can do the same for your site.

In terms of replicating the layout of your sample page, it’s already achieved. Your test page already replicates the setup of your sample page.

Thanks.
