How can I edit Cornerstone to add new choosable elements to it?

Hello, hope you guys are well!

I have a client that is a team that needs to constantly post lines of codes to teach people on their posts, and Cornerstone doesn’t have a “Code” element.
Of course, changing text into code format without corruptions could be done using the “Raw Content” element and putting everything between the “code”, “/code” tags, but as I’m dealing with a lot of people, it’d be much easier if they could just add a Code block element which adds this tag automatically to any text inserted in a simple text block.

I feel like it would work just the same as the “Raw Content” block, except adding the code tags before and after the content filled by the user.

Is it simple to add new elements to Cornerstone? How can I approach this problem?

Thank you!

Hi @jcarnasciali,

Thanks for reaching out.
Unfortunately, we don’t have an option for adding the code block as you are expecting. Also, we don’t have any plan for adding such a feature right now. For now, I would suggest you use the <code> tag as you are doing till now.

Thanks

Hi @tristup,

I didn’t expect for it to be done by you guys, I just want some guidance as to how I could add it myself. Is there a specific cornerstone file I could fiddle with so that I could reproduce the “Raw Content” block, except adding the code tag around the content?

Thank you!

Hi @jcarnasciali,

Regretfully, what you are expecting is beyond the scope of theme support. I would suggest you hire a developer who can assist you on this, or you can avail of our newly launched service called One, where we answer the questions beyond normal theme support.

Thanks
