How can bring gap closer together between photo and text

On this page https://natlvtn.org/ about 1/2 to 3/4 down. There is an image Veterans History Project. Also, text to the right. I’m using two columns. When viewed on a smartphone there is quite a big gap between the two because they are stacked on top of each other. How can I reduce the gap between for a smartphone?
