How big of a difference is X to pro?

I’m slowly building my site in X and learning as I go, I have a deadline of October for my site and have only built a couple of pages as I can only work on it a couple days a week. I’m wondering if upgrading to pro is worth it for me at this point? Is it similar to X or is it more complicated, simpler? I want to be able to add a newsletter sign up in the footer or header which is why I thought to upgrade. I’m currently using the theme ethos so I can’t alter the homepage and I removed the sidebar because I don’t like it for the type of site I’m building.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @weedmama,

I always prefer Pro but be prepared to spend more hours on it… It just gives you a little more control on your headers and footers.

Note: I haven’t used X for a while now as I prefer the custom header/footers or pro… but I believe Pro comes with design cloud that X doesn’t come with. This can speed up the process if you find something similar to what you are looking for.

With the recent update in Pro, it’s become easier to edit headers and footers which now has drag and drop etc… but be prepared to get use to the flex box layout. It can really throw you at first… But with some Googling and questions on here you will come right, no doubt.

Thank you I’m not sure I can switch at this point as it sounds like the learning curve will be too much. One thing I didn’t consider was a newsletter sign up. I hate to be one of those sites that has the the sign up box cover content but may have to.

Hi @weedmama,
I have to agree with @werner7 that you get more flexabilty with Pro vs X espcially with the headers and footers. However you should still be able to have a newsletter sign up form in your footer.

If you utilize a form builder like gravity forms of Ninja forms you should be able to create a newsletter sign up form and link it to whatever newsletter service you want. Like mailchimp, adweber, contant contact, ect… And then just use widgets in the footer to place the form.

I would sugest though when you get launched and have some time. To go ahead and upgrade to Pro it would be a great move. But it does come with a small learning curve from X.

Thank you, I’m just trying to figure out how to add mailchimp the footer widget isn’t working. going to ask support for help
