Basically, the idea is that all main pages will automatically show all dependent pages in a vertical sub-menu.

While there may be better ways to automate it, the simplest way to achieve that is to make your pages sidebar left / content right, and assign a custom sidebar to each page. Then add a menu widget to those sidebars and style as you see fit.
