Homepage video background... not showing on responsive

Hello - I have added an mp4 video on background of a top block of my website

Unfortunately it does not display on smartphones - a non rsponsive image is showing there instead.

The video is playing perfectly on laptops and pc.

What can I do to make it work on all devices flawlessly ?

Have a look through other replies to the same issue. It’s because autoplay video is disabled on mobile devices due to bandwidth/mobile data issues. It’s down to the mobile device browsers not allowing it. I’ve asked about a workaroud earlier.

Hi There,

Thank you for writing in, the video is disabled on mobile by default for some reason like to avoid data charges data plan users, and performance issues with some low specs phone. Please set video poster image for mobile views.

Hello again - would love to answer two of my client’s questions

  1. Why is the video not showing on my laptop ? I have only the image not the bg video (on a pc with chrome - screen resolution >3000)

  2. Is it possible to play the video once and then get back to the jpg bg ?

Hi There,

1- Video is loading fine on my PC Chrome, are you on a touch device? If not please clean your browser and test it again.

If the video does not work it might be related to an Addon of your Chrome browser causing the issue I would suggest trying a different computer since on our installations it works just fine.

2- Unfortunately that is no a feature offered by X

Hi There,

Unfortunely WordPress will understand your touch device as a mobile device, so the video background won´t work.

It does work on traditional screens, I have tested on my end.

Is there a way to blur a bit or to add a layer on top of the video to make it look nicer ?

the actual footage was in lower definition and upscaled. Thanks

You could add a background color with transparency to the row of your section.
