Home page revamp

Hi there, I can see there’s lots of fabulous content in this forum, but I’m not very website literate and so I’m not sure what phrases I need to search for to help with the points below. Any pointers anyone can give would be gratefully received.

  1. My website currently looks like this (https://femalefitnessmatters.co.uk) and I want to change the homepage so that the menus overlay the new branded images I’ve had done more cleanly and strikingly like this (https://redefiningstrength.com) and full screen. What is this called please so that I can try and track down a guide? The website is built in X-Theme in Integrity.

  2. on that full screen theme, how do I have backgrounds of contrasting colours to put text and images over in cornerstone in the same way that https://redefiningstrength.com does, for example? Mine is all white currently and I can’t easily see a way to change this.

  3. I want to reduce the number of menus I have at the top as my homepage feels too busy. What’s the best way to (a) move existing pages without breaking the links; and (b) to add extra menu links in the footer instead?

  4. presumably it’s best to create a new private page whilst I design the new homepage and then make it live when I’ve finished? How do I switch the default homepage so that people land on the new one and not the old one (or even worse just get error messages)? And should I delete the old one or just hide it?

Thank you so much in advance for your help. Sorry to ask so many noddy questions.

Hello Kerry,

Thanks for writing to us.

Question Number 1

I checked your site it seems that you have added lots of menu item and your theme settings are not correct to achieve the same Header layout as your given reference site. Please go to X—>Theme Option —>Header—> Set the Header Position as Static Top and Set the Logo and Navigation as Inline. Please have a look at the given screenshot below.

For Question Number 2

To set the page background colour of the sections as mentioned in the referanced site. Go to the Page —> Edit with Cornerstone—>Click the Magnifier icon of the section to inspect it—>Set the Background-color or click on the " Advanced " to set the background image.

For Question Number 3

To remove the menu item you need to go to your WordPress backend -->Appreance —>Menu–>Select the menu–>Click on any menu item then click on the remove button.

To add a menu on the footer you need to create a new menu and set the menu location as Footer menu. To create a new menu. Go to Appearance -->Menu —>Create New menu—>Add menu Items and then save it.

For Question Number 4

You can create a page after creating the page go to Settings—>Reading—>Click on the “A Static page”–>Select the homepage from the drop-down list.

Hope it helps
Thanks
