Home Page Issue (Possible Hack?)

Hello. I am not positive, but a site might have been hacked. We had some issues with a plugin that was causing a CPU spike and HostGator shut the site down. HostGator also messed up and changed our IP address which took the site down via DNS as well. We disabled the plugin (I think it was a caching plugin), got the DNS working again, but there is something weird going on when I attempt to go to the mobile page. Going to the desktop is fine, but when I hit it from a phone, it takes me to a different page altogether. I cannot find this page in “pages” on WordPress either. It looks like a redirect page with links on it.

An additional problem I am having is that Cornerstone is failing to load. I get basically the wheel of death and I’m unable to edit pages.

I was wondering if someone could take a look and make sure I’m not crazy. I’ve never seen anything like this before. Thanks!

Jon

Thanks.

Hi Jon,

It looks like your site is down again.
I am getting this trying to access your site.

Please check again and let us know.

Thanks

It appears that maybe DNS is the issue.

www.holyangelssidney.com goes to that page.

try http://holyangelssidney.com and see if that takes you to the site…

Jon

Hey Jon,

I am still getting redirected to the page that Paul is seeing.

Would you mind double checking?

Thank you.

Can you try it now? I think we have the DNS issues resolved. I don’t think it is a hack, HostGator really screwed up some of this on their end, ended up having to change DNS a few times back and forth. i think what I saw might have been their splash screen for a domain that is currently down or something, I’m not sure.

I still see it on my phone, but I can’t tell if what I’m seeing on my phone is cached or not. I still see it even after I cleared the cache on my phone though. I’ve tried three different browsers in developer mode set to the iPhone screen size and I no longer see the “other” home page so it’s just weird, or maybe the DNS is still propagating out.

Hi Jonathan,

I have re-tested your issue again and it seems that your DNS issue is resolved now.

If you’re still seeing the earlier page on some of the devices, try clearing full cache by following this guide (https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-clear-your-cache-in-wordpress/) and then also check your site using Incognito mode (https://www.lifewire.com/incognito-mode-google-chrome-4103635) or using private browsing window (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/private-browsing-use-firefox-without-history).

Also I have tested your Cornerstone editor and I see that it is functioning properly as well.

Hope that helps.
