Yes, you can add a class to the menu item then add a CSS code to target the CSS class to style it.

First, enable the CSS Classes option under the Screen Options on the menu settings page:

Then add a CSS code in the global CSS for styling:

.the-menu-item a span {
    padding: 10px;
    border-radius: 20px;
    background-color: #efefef;
}

The code above assumes that the class you have added to the menu item is the-menu-item. Please feel free to modify the CSS until you get your desired design.
