Hide Heading Text on Blog Summaries and Archives

Standard functionality pulls in the heading, the subheading, and the text of the first paragraph. Is there a way to prevent the summary on the blog and archive pages from pulling in headings and/or subheadings?

It makes the text look like there are typos and errors.
And if i use a heading with subheading, there’s no space in between the end of the heading and subheading, so it looks like a typo as it makes it all one word.

I had to temporarily change any opening headers with a subtitle to be two separate headers with a small GAP element in between them to get a space to show up. But i’d like to be able to hide the headers entirely, or just hide the subheader, or any other option like that.

I know I can use custom excerpts, but doing that disables the read more button, and then requires i manually add a link for “read more”. It’s a solution, but not a good one, since I have 1200 posts and 550 faqs and i don’t have the time to manually add custom excerpts to all of them.

Hello Jesse,

Thanks for writing in! Just for future topics, self responding or bumping your post pushes it back in our Queue system so it takes longer to respond to.

Please be aware the excerpts were automatically generated from the first 55 words of your post contents. Any element tags like headings and sub heading will be strip and convert it into plain text. You can limit the number of words by going to Pro > Theme Options > Blog > Content and adjust the “Excerpt Length”.

Hope this explains it briefly.

I want code that removes the headings and subheadings from the automatically generated excerpts. I don’t want to change the excerpt length. I want the excerpts to pull in text modules only.

Hi Jesse,

Sorry, but we can not provide that customization, I see that you hide the original headline, and added your own headline on the content.

That headline on the content is the one that you’re seeing on the excerpt, you need to remove that and have the original headline to show up.

Thanks,

I hide the title on some posts where the headline and title are too identical for there to be a need to display both. Though that’s outside the scope of what this post is about. Sorry, you couldn’t help, but thanks for responding.

You’re always welcome!
