Help with how to add video from my video cam onto my webpage

I don’t know how to add video (editing with Cornerstone and using X theme Agency) that I shot with my video camera onto my website? I will NOT be using a youtube video.

What format does the video need to be in ie MP4 ?

Do I use the element classic video player?

In the classic video player there are two choices, embedded and player. What is the difference?

Can you please provide me with step-by-step instruction on how to add video from my video cam onto my webpage?

Thank you!

Karen V.

Hi @kvmaildrop,

Thanks for writing in.

Best format to use is MP4 but don’t forget to optimize your video for web. You could search a lot of ways in the= web on how to optimize your video.

In regards to adding video to your site, you could use the V2 Video Element.

If you don’t want to use other platform to host your video, upload your video in your media.

After uploading it, copy the source of your video then add it in your Video element.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

I don’t have that option…In content setup (using X theme) it just says embed code on my webpage and being totally new to web design I have no idea what code I should be using for a video on my Mac that’s in my Wordpress media library. Any help would be gratefully received! @nico

I’ve gone down the classic video player route instead (and converted the .MOV file to .M4V in case it mattered) and I can now select the relevant file (as you can see), but it still doesn’t show on the webpage and instead just says “video source missing.” Any ideas please?

Thank you for your help. After doing research, ie ( https://www.wp101.com/10-reasons-why-you-should-never-host-your-own-videos/), I feel it’s best not to host my own videos.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi Karen and Kerry,

Yes, the embed method can reduce the burden on your site. If we follow that path. You need to upload your video to a video sharing site/service (like YouTube or Vimeo).

Look for their share button and choose the embed code

Embed code look like this:

Copy that and paste it on your page, in Cornerstone you have 2 Embed Video element available for pasting that code. The V2 Video element .

And the Classic Embedded Video element, you can choose which element you like, but we recommend the V2 Video element.

If you need the Self-Hosted setup, you need to convert your video first to be web optimize, you can find free video converters on Google

After you have optimized the video, upload it to your Media > Library, then get the video URL.

Then paste that URL into the V2 Video element or Classic Video Player element.

Hope this shed some lights,
Cheers!
