Help with Essential Grid Filters Please!

Hi, I’m working on a site for a blind fitting company which will have a main Gallery page featuring all of the ranges of blinds that they do - using Essential Grid. Within this gallery there will be several filters, such as Roller Blinds, Vertical Blinds, Venetian Blinds etc which all have their own individual product pages. Instead of me creating several galleries to use on the individual pages, is it possible to only show a specific filter from the main Gallery on it’s relative page eg only show the images of the Roller Blinds filter from the main gallery on the Roller Blinds page? I’ve searched for info on a custom shortcode to see if it’s possible to do but I can’t find anything!

Hope you can help!

Thanks!

Hello @core365,

Thanks for writing in! To get your issue resolved, you can create a custom grid and directly use custom blind images for your grid. Please check out this documentation first for more information on how you can create a custom grid:

Hope this helps.

Hi @ruenel,

Thanks for the links, I’ve read the articles and I still don’t understand how to achieve what it is I’m after!
I don’t know why I’d need to use custom blind images as it says it’s to hide items at certain break points. I’m wanting to set up one main gallery which has several categories (filters) which will be displayed on the Gallery page and then I’d like to use the same main gallery on the single category pages but to just show the images for that category instead of them all. I’m really confused as to how I’d go about achieving this from the articles you sent!

Thanks

Hi @core365,

It will be very difficult to recognize the issue without investigating the specific page URL. Can you please provide your website URL and login credentials of your site in a secure note to examine it further, including:

– WordPress Site URL & Login URL
– Specific where you are having this issue.
– WordPress Admin username/password

To create a secure note, click the key icon underneath any of your posts.

Thanks

Hi @tristup,

I’ve created a gallery which currently has 3 categories/filters set up, Roller Blinds, Venetian Blinds and Roman Blinds, which is on the ‘Gallery’ page. I want this gallery to show on the ‘Roller Blinds’ page, but to only show the images from the ‘Roller Blinds’ category/filter - it’s just so I’m not having to set up multiple individual galleries, otherwise it’ll mean me uploading the same images twice, once to the main ‘gallery’ which has all the categories/filters and then to their own individual gallery - I hope I’m making sense!

I’ll put the URLs and admin info in a secure note as I’ve got a construction page up at the moment.

Thanks!

Hey @core365,

I can see that you are already using a custom grid. Back to your issue:

“I want this gallery to show on the ‘Roller Blinds’ page, but to only show the images from the ‘Roller Blinds’ category/filter”

Regretfully, the Essential Grid only offers this shortcode: [ess_grid alias="blinds-gallery"]. It does not provide an option that you can pass parameters to change the grid settings. What you are wanting to do is still may be possible though with the help of custom JS coding that when you are on the Roller Blinds page, for example, a JS script will trigger upon page loading, and that the Roller Blinds filter will be the one active, thus, displaying only Roller Blinds grid items. Be advised that custom coding is way beyond the scope of our support. You may need a 3rd-party developer to code it for you.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi @ruenel,

Thanks for looking into it and getting back to me. That’s a shame, I’ll just need to create several separate galleries instead.

Thanks for your time and help!

Cheers

You’re most welcome,

Cheers!
